I have been busy linking pictures, but haven't updated the gedcom with new research. If I load a New Gedcom will my picture links remain in tack?

The photos will remained linked when you load the new gedcom. If you have changed the spelling of a name that is linked then you will have to relink the photo or photos to that person only. Sometimes when I change the spelling of a name of someone on my PC program, I go to the site the site and change the spelling there so I don't have to relink when uploading a new gedcom.
